Kinga Scott – bilingual counsellor and psychotherapist in West Yorkshire

Hello and welcome to my page. I am an open, down-to-earth, compassionate therapist and I offer confidential and friendly counselling and psychotherapy service. I can work in Polish or English.

Our sessions can provide you with a safe space in which you can explore yourself, your feelings and concerns. Our aim will be to help you develop your autonomy, achieve personal growth and lead to positive changes in your life. Together we can help you to find ways to move forward in difficult times.

My model of practice

In the recent years researchers have found that the most important element to influence the outcome of therapy is the therapeutic relationship; it was found to be more important than the model or school of practice. What that means is that no matter what your therapist’s model of practice, be it Person-Centred Counselling, CBT, Gestalt or other, the quality of the relationship that develops between you and them will be more important than the techniques they use for the therapy to be successful.

My core training was based in person-centred and relational approach which means that I am deeply committed to building and maintaining a strong therapeutic relationship with my clients. At the same time, I am able to incorporate different therapeutic methods as and when required; I can use CBT techniques that can be especially useful when working with anxiety, depression, phobias, among others; I can draw from the theory of Transactional Analysis (TA) which is based on language, concepts and techniques that are easy to understand and jargon-free, and in very simple terms can help to understand how and why we interact with others the way we do.

There are many forms of therapy and schools of thoughts, too many for a single person to learn them all, but I am committed to continuous professional development (CPD) which I do by completing further training, attending workshops and doing further reading.

I believe that everyone is a unique and valuable individual with a capacity and potential for personal growth and positive change. I want to offer my clients the environment in which this growth and change can happen; I’ll endeavour to tailor our sessions to meet your individual needs.

I am fully qualified, a member of a nationally recognised professional body, and hold professional liability insurance. Please see My qualifications and practice page for more details on how I work, and Talking Therapies pages to find out a bit more about different types of therapy (the pages will be updated with new information soon).

Please feel free to contact me to book a FREE 30-minute introductory session during which we can discuss how we can work together to help you achieve your personal goals.
